So after returning home defeated by the floods and spending yesterday plotting, rerouting, and indulging myself in the little luxuries of being home, I learned last night that Route 80 was again passable, and confirmed again this morning before setting out. I then was able to get to Cleveland in less than 8 hours, so after my debacle on Thursday, I'm off to an excellent start, and not too far behind schedule.
Holly and Gerry were here to greet me, so after a happy reunion of the Cleveland Tripod and discussion of plans, we went off to Shaker Square to check out the Garlic Festival, which we had seen advertised a few weeks ago. Cleveland may have hellish winters, but they take full advantage of clement summer weather by having loads of festivals and street fairs. I tried garlic ice cream, which was actually quite good! You can see some of the garlic decorations here, too.
After that we stopped by two of my favorite restaurants, Sarava in Shaker Square and Taste in our hometown of Cleveland Heights. Between drinks, food and friends, it was good times indeed! Definitely check these places out if you're ever in Cleveland!
