Well, I set off on my journey yesterday and got about 1/3 of the way before route 80 stopped dead. I suspected a major accident but learned my error when we finally wound around the exit in Bloomsburg and I learned that nor only was 80 closed for several miles, but surrounding highways were also flooded and people evacuated. Searching for alternate routes with family and friends on phone and Internet proved fruitless, as it appears that roads are flooded from NY state to Virginia. So I went home, rather dejected, and am currently trying to work out a plan that will let me start westward again tomorrow. Alas! The best laid plans of mice and men....wish me luck figuring this out!
On the meager plus side, I did get some beautiful cloud pictures while stymied in traffic. Even under good conditions, 80 is not the most fascinating road to travel, but the clouds can be quite gorgeous.
These are from last trip from Cleveland back to NJ:
